The Importance of Celebration

Celebrations. May seem like the fluff in life. But guess what? They’re pretty important.

Do you know that from an evolutionary perspective, we are designed to experience and remember negative events almost triple-fold to positive ones?

It really goes back to running from the tiger … back in the day, you needed to prominently remember those negative experiences, and what you learned from them, for survival. Today, hopefully, not so much.

So I will make this short and sweet. Hopefully you’ve had some time to gather your thoughts about 2021 reflections in response to the questions I recently shared.

And now I really want you to focus on the positive. Actions or events over the past year that make you feel really proud and/or happy.

As you raise your glass to the future, celebrate you and this success.

Take the time to really mark it in your mind. Be proud and/or joyful. Elevate it above all else.

Think about how you can expand that achievement or event over the next year … because it is just that important.

Make this be the one key thing that you will want to remember in the past year,, because it puts a smile on your face.

And remember, it is REALLY important to think about this achievement, celebrate it and build upon it because it is just TOO EASY for the negative thoughts to surround it and tamp it down. Which is the normal thing to happen according to human evolutionary principles.

So … raise a toast to yourself.

Relish the good moments and events.

And get excited about all the good things that will come your way moving forward.
